5,000MW shortage persists

power-lines

LAHORE: Power shortage of about 5,000MW has put the consumers into a miserable situation, as power generation yet stands at 8,000MW against a demand of 13,000MW, said Pepco sources.

Since the power shortage is on higher side therefore forced closures for about 10 hours' in urban and 14 hours' load shedding in rural areas has become routine matter. Interestingly, this system is facing acute power shortage despite fuel supply to the thermal units from the PSO.

Not only domestic but also commercial and industrial activities are at halt.

Pepco sources said situation would only improve after release of water by IRSA.
